Dette kurset tar din erfaring med dobbeltstrikk til neste nivå. Minst.  Elsker du hullstrikk? Forestill deg hvordan du kan la dine favoritthullmønstre ta av ved å legge til en andre farge i teksturene og retningene som hullstrikk kan gi deg. Bare dobbeltstrikk kan føre deg dit. Enda en grunn til å elske dobbeltstrikk!

I denne klassen vil vi se på hvordan vi kan tilpasse et klassisk hullmønster og gi det dobbeltstrikk-behandlingen. Å strikke det med én farge på den ene siden og en annen på den andre er enkelt nok: det er imidlertid ikke hele historien. Dobbelstrikk gir deg mange flere alternativer enn det!

Ved å bruke “matched pair”-filosofien vil vi se på hvordan vi kan oversette mønsterets økninger og feller til dobbeltstrikk, men vi vil også utforske de mange og varierte alternativene som presenteres for oss ved at vi har to farger å velge mellom for hver maske. Mulighetene er endeløse, og resultatene vil forbløffe deg, og alle som ser din slående vakre og komplekse mesterverk. Og det beste er: det er langt ifra så vanskelig som du tror!

I løpet av klassen vil vi lære om å oversette hullsting fra enkeltstrikk til dobbeltstrikk, og hvordan tilpasse et eksisterende hull-diagram for bruk med to farger for å få de beste og mest interessante resultatene.

Du vil ta med deg evnen til å gjøre ethvert hullmønster du velger om til fargerikt Dobbeltstrikket hullmønster.

Forkunnskaper: Kjennskap til hullstrikk. Beherske dobbeltstrikking.

Ta med: pinner 4 mm, og garn som passer til. Unngå «fluffy» garn, ta gjerne glatt garn med en god spinning.

This class takes your experience of double-knitting to the next level. Love lace knitting? Imagine how you can make your favourite lace patterns take flight by adding a second colour to the textures and directions that lace can give you. Only DK can take you there. Just one more reason to love DK!
In this class, we will be looking at how to adapt a classic lace stitch pattern, and give it the DK treatment. Oh, it’s simple enough to knit it with one colour on one side, and another on the other: that’s just not the whole story, though. DK gives you many more options than that!
Using the “matched pair” philosophy, we’ll look at how to translate the pattern’s increases and decreases into double-knitting, but we’ll also explore the many and various options that we are presented with by the fact that we have two colours to choose from for every stitch. The possibilities are endless, and the results will astound you, and anyone who sees your stunningly beautiful and complex-looking masterpiece. And the best bit is: it’s nowhere NEAR as hard as you think!
During the class, we’ll learn about translating lace stitches from single-face to DK, and how to adapt an existing lace chart for use with two colours to get the best and most interesting results.
You will take away the ability to turn any lace pattern of your choosing into colourful and breathtaking DK Lace.

COMPULSORY: You will need to be competent in the basics of double- knitting, creating a two-sided fabric with two, different-coloured yarns, that shows as stocking stitch on both sides.
Knowledge and experience of knitting lace textures.

MATERI`LS PROV~DED BY THE PARTIC~P`NT:
You will need to bring 20-30g of each of two highly contrasting colours of DK- weight yarn, and a pair of 4mm needles. Can be straights or circs.
Choose smooth yarns with a high twist, and little to no bloom for best results. Only solids or semi-solids. Avoid variegated or multi-coloured yarns. If you like, you can also bring a printout of the chart for your favourite lace pattern, or lace stitch dictionaries to experiment with

HOMEWORK:
Prior to coming to the class, you MUST learn the Two-Colour, Alternating, Long-Tail Cast On for Double-Knitting 
 ( https://youtu.be/RO-maaxl8Rc ).
Tie a slip knot with both yarns held together, leaving enough of a tail for weaving in later. Using the above cast on method, cast on 14 further PAIRS of stitches. That means you will have 15 pairs of loops on your needles, INCLUDING the two loops of your slip knot.
