Hear Elizabeth’s story of knitting in Shetland as an industry, a cottage industry, to the industry and hobby it is today. The story starts as a child learning and selling small Fair Isle pieces. Moving on to learn the different garments in Fair Isle and in Shetland Lace. Working on the knitting machine, and eventually deciding to stop knitting as ‘work’ and find a ‘hobby’. That hobby was spinning and it didn’t stay a hobby for very long. She will tell you about that too, and where that ‘hobby‘ has taken her from then till today.
